ABOUT THE CENTER

The tourism is an interdisciplinary sector which is globalized quickly than other sectors due to its structure. Tourism is growing with globalization, developing and diversifying within the context of internal and external demands in our country. Today as in the following years as the tourism sector in Turkey is seen to maintain its timeliness and effectiveness in terms of our economic policies.

The Law For The Encouragement of Tourism enacted in 1982, has caused large investments to be directed to the tourism area, and a large number of tourism structures have been realized both in public and private sectors. However, the number of tourists and tourism income could not be reached, even it is faced with the danger of loss of natural, historical and cultural values. The solution of this main problem requires the re-evaluation of the tourism sector in the context of the management of tourism destinations. This evaluation process covers issues such as:

- Continuous changes and developments arising from the nature of contemporary tourism and the structure of tourism function have not been adequately monitored and evaluated by the related people, investors and practitioners,

- Turkey's tourism potential for the natural, historical, social, cultural, demographic, economic accumulation of not adequately investigated, the absence of a realistic inventory of natural and artificial environment or data taken into account,

- In the reorganization of the tourism structures entering the aging process, a scientific project management is needed,

- In terms of ecological, economic and social sustainability, Turkey’s tourism should be reconsidered,

- Local governments, investors, operators, tourism organizers, architects, city planners, construction-environmental engineers, building sector, contractors and especially public awareness should be required to gain sufficient knowledge and sensitivity.
